Having grown up in Northern California I never made it a priority to venture out to Napa Valley, wine tasting never interested me. But for my birthday celebration this past October, I decided to trade in a night of going out on the town with my ladies and spend a lovely autumn afternoon with a couple of girlfriends sipping on wine at the Paumanok Vineyards.

It was a beautiful Sunday, the leaves were just changing colors and it was warm enough to wear a dress during the day and light coat in the evening.

My friends and I caught the LIRR early in the morning in order to get to the vineyard right before noon.

The vineyard had a rustic feel to it with wooden chairs and tables leading to rows and rows of grape vines.

We sampled on some wine and ended up getting a few different bottles, riesling being my favorite.

We ventured outside of the vineyard for a couple of hours and walked the town of Aquebogue to get a full meal and fudge, then back to the vineyard we went.

A carefree celebration to welcome another year of life.
